These works are made using cyanotype, a historical photographic chemical. Play is at the core of my practice; it is both subject matter for my works but also embedded in how I utilise the photographic medium. I often re-establish photographic processes as performative games where people are invited to become players. These works embrace fun while simultaneously pushing the conventional boundaries of one of the oldest photographic processes to exist.
Tom Pope graduated with a MA in Photography from the Royal College of Art in 2011. Upon graduating, he won the Deutsche Bank Artist Award. Pope has work in various public and private collections, and he has been commissioned to make photographs and performances internationally.
Recent shows include Terminating Martin Parr at ArtHouse Jersey, 2022 and Carraeu at COLDENS, St Leonards, 2022.
Due to the nature of how Tom works, this print is made using a water pistol filled with photographic solution, each print in the edition is slightly different in appearance.
